In an announcement, library officials said that Lauri Fletcher was named to the position. Fletcher is a native of Indiana and a 2002 IUP graduate, who later went on to earn her master’s degree in library science at Clarion in 2005. She began working with the Indiana Free Library in 2006 as the Youth Service Librarian. She also earned a master’s degree in adult education and communications technology in 2012.
She takes over as the interim director following the retirement of Kate Geiger earlier this year. Fletcher said that she is excited to continue the mission and vision of the library of literacy for everyone with a focus on access to technology.
