The Teddy Bear Fund Drive, which is in its 46th year, has raised around $3 million for pediatric care at the Indiana Regional Medical Center and the Free Care Fund at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The prestigious international award for community service is in memory of Cary and Betty Simpson. Cary Simpson was a legendary Pennsylvania broadcaster based in Tyrone who founded the Allegheny Mountain Radio Network.
Accepting the award at the group’s conference in Saratoga, New York, Regional Vice President Mark Bertig saluted the Renda “team that is dedicated to the cause of raising money to fund health care at IRMC and Children’s Hospital.”
The International Broadcasters Idea Bank is a group of 100 small and medium market radio stations in the U.S. Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
