Braxton Ashcraft set a career-high with 10 strikeouts in seven innings but the Curve’s bullpen fell apart in the ninth inning and Akron walked it off in a 2-1 win Tuesday afternoon.
Infielder Kervin Pichardo hit his first home run in the third inning, which was the only run scored until the ninth, when Justin Meis and Cameron Junker allowed two walks and two singles to the Rubberducks.
Game two the series is tomorrow night. Po-Yu Chen will start for the Curve.
