A road construction project gets underway tomorrow in White Township and Indiana Borough. The replacement of two bridges over Marsh Run on Wayne and Carter Avenues will affect traffic until just before the Indiana County Fair begins in August.
Traffic on Wayne Avenue will be limited to one lane in each direction and there will be an 11-foot width restriction between Hospital Road and Maple Street, with various lane shifts. Carter Avenue, which runs along the north side of the fairgrounds, will be closed from Wayne Avenue to South 7th Street. The detour will involve South 6th Street to Indian Springs Road to Wayne Avenue.
There will also be no left turn onto Hospital Road when traveling south on Wayne Avenue. Drivers who typically take that turn will have to use Wayne Avenue to Pratt Drive to Hospital Road. Pedestrians will also be detoured from in front of the KCAC.
The restrictions will be in place until August 16th. The work is part of the $11.9 million resurfacing project that began last year and will be completed in October.
