SOFTBALL
Marion Center trounced Penns Manor, 13-1, with Madison Schrecengost and Lydia Miller each having 3 hits and Mya Lipsie and Brookelynn Hill each getting 2. Kayla Hill struck out 12 for the Stingers.
Emerson Skirboll had 3 hits and Callie Reaugh and Lilly Buckles each had 2 as River Valley beat Purchase Line, 12-4. PL had 5 hits, including a triple by Kaitlyn Houser.
Megan Black homered and had 2 hits as Conemaugh Valley topped united, 11-1. Abby McConville homered and had 2 hits for the Lions.
Northern Cambria scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th and outslugged Cambria Heights, 11-10. Rylee Stine had 3 hits and Braelyn Pattison, Skye Bernicky, and Lainey Vasil each had 2. Brea Kountz had 3 hits for the Highlanders.
Portage battered Conemaugh Township, 15-0, in three innings.
In the WPIAL, Armstrong downed Indiana, 12-5. For Indiana, Maggie Cunningham homered and doubled , and Haley Hamilton and Olivia Zimmerman also had 2 hits.
BASEBALL
United walked off Conemaugh Valley, 5-4, in 9 innings. Both teams had trouble in the field, with the Lions committing 4 errors and the Blue Jays 5. Only one Conemaugh Valley run was earned. Ryan Felix had 3 hits for United. Ethan Chilenski threw the final 4-and-two-thirds innings, giving up 1 unearned run and striking out 6 for the win.
Penns Manor outlasted Marion Center, 9-7. Connor James, Justin Vojtek, Carter Smith, and Kaden Detwiler all had 2 hits for the Comets. Noah McCoy had 3 hits with a triple and a double for the Stingers, Isaac Reaugh doubled twice and had 3 hits, and Trent Slovinsky had 2 hits.
Sammy Yanits doubled twice and had 3 hits as River Valley handled Purchase Line, 11-1. Niko Vadala and Chase Stuchal both had 2 hits and Johnathan Warnick struck out 7 for the Panthers.
Shaun Gisler had 3 hits with a triple as Northern Cambria outscored Cambria Heights, 11-8. Nathan Fry, Ben Messina, and Zach Lockard all had 2 hits for the Colts. Mitchell Elias hit a grand slam for the Highlanders.
In his 33rd and final season, coach Sam Zambanini got win number 450 as Conemaugh Township shut out Portage, 3-0. Zack Petree went six and combined with Brennan Lohr on the shutout, scattering 10 hits but keeping the Mustangs off the scoreboard.
