Firefighters were on the scene of a structure fire last night in Blairsville Borough.
Indiana County 911 reports that the initial call was made at 10:30 last night to a home on South Walnut Street. Blairsville, Black Lick, Coral-Graceton, New Alexandria and Derry fire departments were initially dispatched, along with the county RIT Team, Citizens Ambulance and the Blairsville Police Department. Homer City fire department was dispatched about a half-hour later. Blairsville fire officials said that it was on the second floor of an apartment building. The fire started in the kitchen. Moderate damage was reported. The family living there had to be evacuated but they are receiving assistance. No injuries were reported, and the scene was cleared around 2:00 AM. Fire officials called it a good knockdown that prevented the fire from spreading further.
There was also a vehicle fire reported yesterday on Hemlock Lake Road in Banks Township at 10:19 AM. Glen Campbell, Big Run and Rossiter fire departments were dispatched at the time.
