Grover John Stahlman, 90, of Washington, PA, formerly of Home and Blairsville, died Thursday, May 2, 2024. He went to his heavenly home and joined his wife and met his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born May 23, 1933, to Franklin Clyde and Mary Pearl (Coleman) Stahlman in Worthville, PA – Jefferson County.
He was a former member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church, a member of Homer City Church of the Nazarene, and most recently attended Legacy Baptist Church in Meadowlands, PA. He belonged to AARP #5552, the traveling Ground Hogs Camping Club, and the Keystone Sportsman Club. He loved to create beautiful intarsia wood pieces and proudly displayed them, sold them, and gave many of them as gifts to family and friends.
He served in the US Army and remembered his rifle number and rank, even during his failing health. One of his favorite things was when his musical family got together to sing and play.
John is survived by siblings: Bob Stahlman, Illinois, Gene Stahlman, Indiana, Jerry Stahlman, Homer City, Darlene Wenzel, Home, and Samuel Stahlman, Colorado; five children: John J. Stahlman and wife, Gayle, with whom he made his home, Washington, PA, Donald L. Stahlman and wife, Debra, Blairsville, Thomas A. Stahlman and wife, Diane, Indiana, Linda M. Peachey and husband, Kirk, Huntingdon and Beverly K. Lydick and husband, Bob, Blairsville; grandchildren: Kent, Amber, Rob, Rebecca, Kraig, Emily, Julia, Kayla, Abbey, Shane, Alayna, and Carrie, as well as 19 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Rushton), and sisters, Irene Fairman and Viola Isenberg.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, who provided assistance and comfort during his final days.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, Blairsville with funeral service held immediately following visitation with Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Blairsville Military Honor Guard and the US Army will conduct military services following the funeral service. Private burial at a later date at Crooked Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Chambersville.
