Teens interested in attending the State Police Camp Cadet program this summer have another chance to register, as the deadline for the program has been extended.
State police say that applications for the camp later this summer will now be accepted until May 15th. The camp is scheduled for June 30th to July 5th at the Little Mahoning Bible Camp in Smicksburg. Each day, youth between the ages of 13 and 15 who attend school or reside in Indiana County will be able to take part in the free week-long camp that is focused on providing a first-hand experience in the field of law enforcement. This includes working closely with law enforcement officials, first responders and other agencies to learn investigative techniques. The camp itself is staffed by state troopers and other volunteers. It is not meant to be a recreational camp or a disciplinary camp for problem youth.
Applications can be picked up at the state police barracks in Indiana or downloaded from the Camp Cadet website.
