BASEBALL
Indiana blasted Knoch, 9-1 as Ben Ryen went 2-for-3 with a home run and Ethan Shank also homered. Trevor Smith had a double and a single. Indiana is 5-1, 2-0 in their Section.
A 6-run third inning broke open the game as Homer-Center shut out Marion Center, 10-0. Owen Saiani threw 4 scoreless innings and struck out 7, and he had 3 hits at the plate. Nash Budner had 2 hits. For the Stingers, Noah McCoy had 2 hits.
Northern Cambria’s Shane Gisler was 5-for-5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIS as the Colts crushed Portage, 15-5. Reece Wagner had two hits for NC. For Portage, Easton Slanoc and Justin Morgan each had 2 hits.
River Valley edged Penns Manor, 6-5. Merreck Smith had 3 hits, with a double and a home run. Caden Vresilovec and Chase Stuchal each had 2 hits. For Penns Manor, 3 hits for Tyler Cooper and Kayden Detwiler and 2 hits, both doubles, for Carter Smith. Brayden Mumau had 2 hits.
Conemaugh Township swept United in a doubleheader, 1-0 and 10-3. In the first game, Larry Weaver gave up two hits and struck out 10, and scored the game’s only run on a walk-off single by Luke Haight with one out in the 7th. In the second game, Haight, Zack Petree, and Colin Dinyar each had 3 hits for the Indians. Caden McCully had 3 hits for the Lions.
Jude Olinger had 2 hits, including a triple, and drove in 6 runs as West Shamokin clobbered Purchase Line 14-0. Luke McCullough had 2 hits and Max Long struck out 10 in the shutout. For PL, Brandon Buterbaugh and AJ Chambers each had 2 hits.
SOFTBALL
Marion Center swept a doubleheader from Homer-Center, 6-0 and 8-4. Lydia Miller had 5 hits in the two games, Brookelynn Hill had 4, and Kailey Anderson, Alivia Ruddock, and Mya Lipsie each had 2 hits. Cheyenne Silvis struck out 5 in the first game and Kayla Hill struck out 4 in the second.
Conemaugh Township and United split a doubleheader, with the Indians taking the first game, 16-1 and the Lions the second game, 11-1. Addee Leasure had 3 hits for CT in the first game and Haylee Thomas and Taylor Jarvis each homered. Madisyn Burkett had 3 hits for United in the second game.
West Shamokin bombed Purchase Line 12-0 as Avery Elkin had 3 hits for the Wolves and Leah Mondi, Malena Stewart, and Madi Keim each had 2.
Northern Cambria beat Portage, 8-3. Makayla Formeck had 3 hits for NC.
River Valley lost to Derry, 7-0.
Indiana won its first Section game, beating West Mifflin, 4-2. Julia Antonacci had 2 hits and Ella Myers and Hayley Hamilton each doubled.
