The Altoona Curve picked up their first win of the season, spoiling the opener for the Akron Rubber Ducks 4-3 in ten innings.
The Curve was held hitless until the top of the 6th, when Matt Frazier hit a double to right field to put runners in scoring position for Tres Gonzalez, who hit an RBI groundout to put the Curve on the board 3-1. Jackson Glenn then hit an RBI single to score one run to bring it to 3-2.
In the 9th, Glenn scored on a wild pitch to tie it up. Frazier would win it in the top of the 10th with an infield single that allowed placed runner Seth Beer to score. Bubba Chandler struck out 4 batters in three and a thirds innings.
Justin Meis held the line for the Curve bullpen with three scoreless innings of relief covering the fifth through seventh. Meis struck out three and allowed just one hit and one out. Grant Ford work 2/3rds of the 10th inning to pick up the save.
The two teams play again tonight. Sean Sullivan will start for the Curve while Tom Mace will start for Akron.
