While the rain has eased in our area, there is still the possibility of flooding in Indiana County and the surrounding area.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Indiana, Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties that will remain in effect until 3:45 this afternoon. Flooding has already occurred in the county, including the flooding of Route 119 near Marion Center yesterday that tied up traffic in both directions. As of now, 511PA reports no flooding, but the National Weather Service says that additional rain is due on top of the two to three-and-a-half inches of rain that has come through the area.
Officials say that if you encounter a road that appears to be flooded, the best thing to do is to “turn around, don’t drown” as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles stuck in flood waters.
