Indiana Borough Police have announced their statistics for their IUPatty’s weekend detail.
Over the three-day period that spanned from 7 AM on March 22nd to 7 PM on March 24th, Indiana Borough officers responded to 156 calls for service, which is a decrease of eight from the year before. Police also made 23 arrests and investigated one vehicle crash, one incident of domestic violence, and one PFA violation.
Additionally, five code enforcement citations were issued, all for littering, and 115 parking citations were issued during the weekend.
Chief Justin Schawl thanked IUP-affiliated organizations and community members for displaying patience and cooperation over the weekend.
Schawl also echoed that sentiment in his remarks during Indiana Borough Council’s regular voting meeting Tuesday night, saying that it was quote, “their self-policing lessened the need, intensity, and duration of police-to-student contacts.”
