Pirates rookie Jared Jones struck out ten Miami Marlins in five-and-a-third innings in his Major League debut Saturday, as the Bucs won their third straight game, 9-4. It’s the first 3-0 start for the Pirates since 2018.
Connor Joe had three hits, and Bryan Reynolds, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Oneil Cruz, Jared Triolo, and Michael A. Taylor each had two hits in a 16-hit Pirates attack. Jones gave up three runs on three hits and walked two.
The Pirates go for the sweep of the Marlins this afternoon with a matchup of left-handers. Bailey Falter pitches for the Bucs against Trevor Rogers.
