On Monday, the Indiana School Board heard an update on the district’s plans for the day of the solar eclipse.
Superintendent Robert Heinrich said that they will dismiss the secondary students early that day as their normal dismissal would be in prime eclipse time.
Elementary students will not be dismissed early and will be allowed to take part in watching the eclipse safely outside. If parents wish to opt out of it, students will watch the NASA feed of the eclipse indoors.
The board also approved close to $50,000 in change orders for the Eisenhower porject. Most of the money will go towards additional excavation due to soil conditions in one area. The other areas to be addressed is the installation of treated lumber frames under classroom lockers, other excavation and plumbing work.
