For the second straight year, an Indiana County basketball team will play for the Girls AA state championship. Todd Marino has the story of Marion Center’s semifinal win last night. (60-47 over Minersville.)
Coach Amy Trimble says there is a poster in the Stingers’ locker room that they made before the season outlining their team goals.
Marion Center defended the three-point line, forcing the Miners to step further away from the arc to launch their threes, and they shot only 2-24 from long range. Overall, Minersville shot only 13-44 from the field.
The Stingers make it to the state championship game for the first time. They had two previous semifinal appearances, in 1990 and 1993.
