On Tuesday night, the Blairsville Borough Council approved a bid for the 2024 paving schedule.
The low bid went to Derry Construction of Latrobe at a cost of $87,234.90. Approval is pending a review of the bid by the solicitor. The paving schedule includes South Stewart from Market to Brown Streets and from Wynn to Johnson Streets, North Stewart Street from Market to Campbell, Campbell Street from Stewart to the dead end, and East Lane from Market to Campbell Streets. The crew will also patch up a small portion on South Stewart Street. Borough Public Works Director Dave Fairman said that while the schedule is aggressive, it was in his opinion a good one.
In other business, council formally adopted the garbage ordinance. This version will address setting garbage in front of the house and has people keeping it out of sight or in proper garbage cans until it can be picked up.
