A Johnstown man is accused of drug possession in connection with an incident Sunday night in East Wheatfield Township. State police say that at 8:59 PM, troopers pulled over a car at the intersection of Route 56 East and McCormick Road for running a stop sign that had flashing red lights. The driver, identified as 61-year-old Anthony Ponce, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and suspected methamphetamine was found in the car. Ponce was taken into custody and he submitted to a legal blood draw and released. Charges are pending the results of the blood test.
State police are investigating the theft of chicken coops in Armstrong Township. The theft allegedly happened last Wednesday at 1:00 PM at a property along Route 422. The coops belonged to a 38-year-old Marion Center woman. The investigation into the thefts is continuing.
