A Blairsville family was displaced as their home was gutted by fire this morning.
Indiana County 911 first reported the fire at 9:45 at a home on North Liberty Street in Blairsville Borough. Blairsville, Black Lick, Homer City, Coral-Graceton, and Indiana fire departments from Indiana County along with Derry, New Alexandria and Clyde Fire Departments from Westmoreland County were dispatched initially along with the county Emergency Management Agency and Citizens’ Ambulance. Armagh and Jackson Township fire departments were called in later on for standby detail.

Blairsville Fire Chief Zach Dixon described what it looked like when he arrived.
David Palmer, who lived in the home, said that his daughter initially smelled smoke.
Palmer was able to get everyone out and they are staying with nearby relatives. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The front and the back sides of the house were destroyed and the interior was gutted.
