The Pirates played two split squad games Saturday, losing to the Tigers and beating the Braves. Joe Block has the story of the Tigers game.
The win over Atlanta was highlighted by another impressive performance by right-hander Jared Jones, who is pushing to make the roster – and the rotation – coming out of Spring Training. Jones threw four scoreless innings in a 4-2 Pirates win. He has not allowed an earned run in 11-and-one-third innings this spring. On Saturday, he allowed two hits and a walk and struck out four.
Jack Suwinski was 3-for-3 with a home run, his second homer in consecutive days, to lead the Bucs’ offense.
