In Division 1 basketball, the Pitt Panthers fell to number 1 seed UNC 72-65 in the ACC Championship tournament.
Bub Carrington lead the Panthers attack with 24 points and four rebounds, followed by Jaland Lowe with 17, but no other panthers had more than eight points on the night. UNC outscored the Panthers 10-3 in the last four minutes after Lowe hit a game-tying basket.
The Panthers fate for the NCAA tournament now lies in the hands of the selection committee, but many analysts say that the Panthers slipped off the bubble with the loss. They are classified as one of the “first four out” by Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology report.
