The Marion Center girls are set to challenge Marian Catholic tonight in the PIAA Girls AA quarterfinals at Bald Eagle Area High School, and we will have it on Cat Country 106.3 FM and on Renda Digital TV.
Marion Center is 22-5. Marian Catholic is 22-6. The Stingers have had a relatively easy time of it in the state playoffs, with dominating wins over Winchester Thurston and Montrose, but those wins came after a grueling run to the District 6 championship, so they are battle-tested. Marian Catholic finished third in District 11, and has fought off Northeast Bradford by 12 and Northern Lehigh, 55-54.
The Lady Colts are led by 5-11 senior Carly Minchoff, who averages 15.2 points per game and scored 29 (with five three-pointers) in Tuesday’s win over Northern Lehigh. Addison Fritz is also 5-11 and scores 11.7 per game. Frankie Martinelli averages 10.8.
Marion Center coach Amy Trimble says she’s told her girls how special it is to join the other great teams in school history.
Trimble says her entire team is enjoying the tremendous Marion Center community support.
Because it is the second game of a doubleheader, the start of tonight’s game may be delayed by the first game’s timing, but the broadcast will start at 6:30 on Cat Country 106.3 FM and Renda Digital TV, with tipoff scheduled for 7.
