After the Steelers released Keanu Neal and Patrick Peterson earlier this week, they were left with Minkah Fitzpatrick as the only true safety on the roster. They added one on Thursday, signing former Dolphins safety DeShon Elliot to a two-year, $6 million contract.
Elliot put up solid numbers for Miami last season, making 82 tackles, seven pass deflections and an interception. Pro Football Focus also listed him as the ninth-best safety in run defense, giving him a final grade of 83.5.
Prior to his time in Miami, Elliot spent time with Detroit and Baltimore.
