It’s all about young pitching for the Pirates right now. 2019 first round draft pick Quinn Priester was on the mound yesterday and threw two clean, scoreless innings, allowing no baserunners while striking out two and throwing only twenty pitches in a 5-3 loss to the Tigers.
Manager Derek Shelton says he’s enjoying watching potential young stars like Priester, Henry Davis, and Paul Skenes work to make it to the Majors.
Priester says yesterday’s start felt good.
Today, 2023 top overall draft pick Paul Skenes makes his spring training debut at Sarasota against the Orioles. It’s another chance for Skenes to face the O’s’ shortstop, Jackson Holliday, who is rated the number one prospect in baseball. Skenes is rated number three.
Typically understated, Skenes says he’s ready to go this afternoon.
Today’s game will not be on the radio.
