The stat line for the Pitt Panthers told the story of their 69-62 loss to Clemson last night. Leading scorer Blake Hinson was held to 6 points, no assists, and one rebound, and Pitt’s big men, 6-11 Federinko Federinko and 7-footer Guillermo Diaz Graham combined for just two points.
Coach Jeff Capel said it was easy to diagnose the problem from the outset.
Even with all of their problems, the Panthers led by four at the half and still were up 4, 50-46, with 8:44 left. Pitt fell to 18-10, 9-8 in the ACC, dropping to 7th place with only three games left in the regular season. Still, Capel isn’t panicking.
Pitt has lost two of its last three games and is losing ground in its fight to make the NCAA Tournament. The ACC Tournament begins March 12th.
