It didn’t look good for the Penguins last night after heading into the game against the team with the most points in the NHL this season minus top line-forwards Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel, and falling behind early in the game. But they suddenly caught fire and turned it all around. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Coach Mike Sullivan said it was a great hockey game.
Sullivan says Erik Karlsson is finding that “next level” in his game that the Penguins have been looking for.
Karlsson says Tristan Jarry kept the Penguins in the game against the tough Canucks.
Sidney Crosby had two assists in the game, two days after he had two goals and two assists against the Flyers. He recorded his 1,000th career even-strength point in his NHL career. He’s on a 47-goal, 89-point pace at age 36.
Sullivan says Crosby continues to amaze.
Bryan Rust is out “week-to-week” with an upper body injury and is a candidate for long-term injured reserve, which is where linemate Jake Guentzel is residing these days. Reilly Smith and Rickard Rakell skated on the top line with Sidney Crosby.
The Penguins move on to play the Seattle Kraken tomorrow night.
