The girls took the court in the District 6 Double-A and Triple-A quarterfinals last night, and River Valley and Marion Center kept their seasons going, while Penns Manor and Homer-Center suffered losses to end their seasons.
In Triple-A, River Valley blew out Central (Martinsburg). Jake Slebodnick was there. (River Valley 58, Central 29)
The other Triple-A quarterfinals saw Westmont Hilltop crush Penns Valley, 47-14. River Valley will play at Westmont Monday night.
Central Cambria beat Huntingdon, 64-52, and top seed Forest Hills cruised over Cambria Heights, 62-30.
In Double-A, the Homer-Center girls were looking for another upset at second-ranked Portage, but despite Alaina Fabin’s notable milestone, the Mustangs prevailed. Mark Bertig reports. (Portage 47, Homer-Center 36)

The Marion Center girls made the two-hour drive to Southern Huntingdon worth the trip. The Stingers advance to the District 6 semifinals and also qualify for the state tournament with a 50-43 win over the Rockets. Lydia Miller led the way with 20 points, Mya Lipsie added 15, and Macie Miller 8 for the Stingers, who will play at top seed Bishop McCort on Monday. The Crushers dominated West Branch, 69-20.
Coach Amy Trimble says Marion Center played a hard fought game and stuck together to keep their momentum going. She called it “a great team win.”
