The Penguins put up a fight against the Islanders last night before falling in overtime. Paul Steigerwald recaps the loss.
Coach Mike Sullivan liked the Penguins’ fight last night.
Sullivan liked the effort but wanted the two points.
The coach says the Pens didn’t get the breaks, but they worked hard.
The Pens’ power play was 0-for-3, and they compounded the ineptitude by passing around the perimeter for the entirety of one second-period Islanders penalty, then giving the puck away as the power play expired, leading to a breakaway goal by Mathew Barzal coming out of the penalty box.
The Pens are 1-4-1 in their last six games. They will host the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena.
