The WPIAL announced their fall sports classifications for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years on Monday.
In football, Indiana remained in Class 4A2 along with Hampton, Knoch and Mars, but McKeesport and West Mifflin were added in the latest realignment. McKeesport was 11-2 overall and 6-0 in Section 4A3 last year, and made it to the WPIAL 4A Championship against Aliquippa. Meanwhile, West Mifflin was bumped up a class after finishing 7-5 overall and 5-1 in Section 3A1 last year.
Falling out of Indiana’s section was North Catholic, who bumped down to Section 3A1, and Kiski Area, who moved up a class to 5A2.
Derry also moved up a class, going from 2A1 in 2023 to 3A3 in 2024. Ligonier Valley stayed put in Section 2A2.
Section schedules for football will be released Thursday, March 14.
