There is college basketball on the air tonight. Pitt has won five straight games and will host Wake Forest, the team they beat, 77-72, on January 31st to start their streak. The Panthers thumped Louisville, 86-59 on Saturday.
The Demon Deacons won their next three games after the Pitt loss, but have lost their last two, to Duke, 77-69, and to Virginia on Saturday, 49-47.
Pitt is 17-8, Wake Forest 16-9 for the season, and both teams are 8-6 in the ACC, good for a three-way tie with North Carolina State for third place in the conference.
The airtime tonight on WCCS is 8:30, with tipoff shortly after 9.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
With a 75-53 win last night over Creighton, UConn women’s coach Geno Auriemma broke a tie with Mike Krzyzewski for second-most wins by a head coach in Division I men’s or women’s college basketball. Auriemma’s 1,203rd career victory, all of them at UConn, is only six behind Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer. Auriemma has won 11 national championships.
