Blake Hinson scored 41 points to lead Pitt over Louisville, 86-59, on Saturday at the Petersen Events Center.
Hinson scored 27 points in the first half and was 14-for-24 from the field, 9-for-13 on three-pointers, as he became only the seventh Pitt player to score 40 points in a game (the last was Jamel Artis in 2017). He set a Pitt record for points scored at Petersen Events Center and was just four points off the all-time Pitt record for points in a game. Don Hennon had 45 in a double-overtime win over Duke in 1957. Hinson very likely would have had a shot at the record except coach Jeff Capel emptied his bench with about two minutes left.
Pitt is 17-8, 8-6 in the ACC, and is on a five-game winning streak. The Panthers will play at Wake Forest on Tuesday.
