IUP’s ROTC will be conducting their annual spring semester field training exercise this weekend.
Authorities say that the exercise will begin at 4 AM on Saturday and will wrap up at 8 AM on Sunday. During that time, cadets will be marching and carrying their ruck gear from Pierce Hall from about 5-7 AM on Saturday to the National Guard Training area at the top of the hill on Fleming Road. They will also conduct tactical movements in full Army uniforms with gear and rubber training rifles.
Public roads will be utilized during this training exercise, including South 13th and Water Streets and College Lodge, Mary Ann Hill, North Ben Franklin and Fleming Roads. While there will not be a need for any safety concerns, people are advised to take caution when driving or walking in these areas.
