Phil Bell rifled a 25-foot snap shot wrister past goaltender AJ Fuller with 44.4 seconds left in overtime to give Indiana a 3-2 win over Meadville last night at S&T Bank Arena.
Indiana fell behind on a first period goal by the Bulldogs’ Preston Phillis but the Indians grabbed a 2-1 lead on a pair of second period power play goals in a 1:07 span by Ash Lockard and Landin Wilson.
Phillis tied the game at 2 on a short-handed goal at the 7:11 mark of the third period on a brilliant rush out of the Meadville end.
Bell’s game-winner, his 20th goal of the season, was the only shot for either team in the overtime. Lockard’s goal was his 17th and Wilson’s was his 16th this season.
Lockard also had an assist on the night and Gabe Nettleton had two assists. Luke Rowe had 33 saves for the win. Indiana was outshot in the game, 35-20.
Indiana is in second place in the Class A Gold Division, a point behind Quaker Valley, which lost to Shaler, 6-5 last night. Quaker Valley closes the regular season on Monday against Greensburg Salem. Indiana’s finale will be next Thursday, also against Greensburg Salem.
