IUP and Indiana Regional Medical Center have finalized an affiliation agreement that will allow students to complete their clinical experience at IRMC to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.

The agreement will help with a 48-credit clinical year of study with the program. As part of the agreement, students could receive loan forgiveness if they successfully complete the program and are offered a position and agree to sign a three-year contract to work at IRMC as lab scientists. Enrollment will be limited to five students. Four IUP students, all medical technology majors, have already been accepted into the first cohort. Their work at IRMC will start in July of 2024.
Before the agreement between IUP and IRMC, students would complete their clinical year at hospitals outside the area, including Altoona, Johnstown, Philadelphia and other locations.
