Flu cases in Pennsylvania dropped last week from 7,714 new cases to 7,643. That’s a decrease of 71 in the most recent week for which statistics are available. The state Health Department says Type A flu is waning while Type B is flaring up, which is typical as the flu season enters its latter stages.
The number of flu deaths rose from 181 to 206. The 25 newly recorded deaths are a significant slowdown from the week before, when there were 61.
Indiana County’s flu rate continued to slowly decline. There were 21 new lab-confirmed flu cases, after an increase of 25 the week before and 24 the week before that. There have been 444 flu cases in Indiana County since the flu season began in the first week of October.
There were three new RSV cases recorded in Indiana County, bringing the season total to 126.
