The Road to the KCAC reaches its final stop tonight at the Kovalchick Complex, with the Heritage Conference championships for girls and boys basketball. There is also an art show and a ceremony to award scholarships to a girl and a boy student from every school in the conference.
The night gets underway with the girls’ championship, featuring defending conference champ River Valley, at 18-5 overall this season, against Penns Manor, which is 20-3. Both teams come out of the Heritage Conference West, and they’ve played twice already this season. The Comets won on January 3rd, 67-44 and again on the 31st, 31-29.
River Valley coach Ricc Brown says his team is looking forward to another shot against Penns Manor.
Penns Manor coach Jason Miloser says beating River Valley will take a lot of work, especially on the glass.
The boys’ championship features the two teams that finished first in their respective divisions. 16-6 River Valley was the top team in the West and 18-3 Conemaugh Township led the conference in wins in taking the East. The two played all the way back at the beginning of the season and Conemaugh Township won that game, 72-48. River Valley stumbled out of the gate this season and was amid a 2-4 start, but the Panthers rebounded quickly and have gone 14-2 since then.
River Valley coach Rick Spallone likes the role of the underdog.
Conemaugh Township coach Chuck Lesko is impressed with the season that River Valley has put together.
Both games tonight will be on Cat Country 106.3 FM and on Renda Digital TV. You can watch the stream at any of the four Renda Media websites, including ________, or by visiting the Renda Digital TV channel on YouTube.
