At a special meeting Thursday night, the River Valley School Board approved some changes for the fieldhouse at the new football stadium.
The motions that came before the board last night included contract addendums with Remington and Vernick Engineers for engineering services at a cost not to exceed roughly $1.6 million, and the other was for Hellas construction to erect the new field house that would include a concession stand, locker room and auxiliary space at a cost not to exceed $5 million. The second agreement is pending review by the district solicitor.
Board President Rick Harper said that the changes were necessary because the cost for the original project went way over budget, and he said that some sacrifices had to be made.
Harper is hopeful that the fieldhouse will be ready in time, but that will be determined on if there are any supply shortages that could hold construction up. Harper says that they will still be able to play football at the new facility at the start of next season.
