The Penguins play at Minnesota tomorrow night and at Winnipeg on Saturday, but for that Saturday game against the Jets, they will miss out on their chance for revenge against Brendan Dillon. The NHL has suspended the Winnipeg defenseman for three games for his hit to the head of the Pens’ Noel Acciari on Tuesday night.
Dillon drove his shoulder into the head of Acciari in the second period on Tuesday, sending the Pens’ forward’s helmet flying and knocking him off his feet. The NHL writes in its decision that the hit was illegal for two reasons: the head was the main point of contact and the collision was avoidable.
The Penguins did not practice yesterday and there was nothing said about Acciari’s condition. He was helped off the ice Tuesday after being attended to by the medical staff.
