Work is continuing to restore the Pennsylvania Courts website to full operating order after a cyber-attack.
As of 3PM yesterday, Pennsylvania Chief Justice Debra Todd said that e-services and e-commerce portions of the Pennsylvania Courts website remained operational and accessible to the public, and courts have remained open despite the cyber-attack. But work will continue on restoring the court information and education webpages back online. She said “We remain in a virtual battle with an unknown opponent who continues to target our online platform through what federal law enforcement has deemed a significant and serious denial-of-service attack,” which happens when a suspect floods a server or network to render a website inoperable to legitimate users. She added that their team of IT and executive workers along with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working together to find out who is responsible and how to end the attack.
There has been no indication that any court data was compromised.
