The Penguins got off to a great start coming out of the All-Star break, with the power play clicking and Tristan Jarry slamming the door on the Winnipeg Jets. Paul Steigerwald recaps a Penguins shutout win.
Noal Acciari left the game and did not return after Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon blasted him in the head with his shoulder, sending Acciari’s helmet flying and knocking him down. Acciari needed help to stand up and leave the ice while Dillon got a match penalty. Coach Mike Sullivan said Acciari was being evaluated but seemed to be okay.
The Penguins will play back-to-back games this weekend, Friday at Minnesota and Saturday at Winnipeg.
A tip of the cap to the Vegas Golden Knights for beating Edmonton, 3-1 last night, stopping the Oilers’ 16-game winning streak. The ’92-’93 Penguins still own the longest winning streak in NHL history, at 17 games.
