At last night’s Homer City Borough Council meeting, it was announced that the borough’s K-9 officer, Thor, was going to retire.
His effective retirement date is set for March 1st. Council president Joe Izzei, Sr. said that during his ten years as an officer, Thor and his partner, Chief Anthony Jellison, were a big help to Homer City and other police departments.
After Thor’s tour of duty is over, the plan is to have Thor live with Jellison for the rest of his days. There are no plans at this time to replace Thor on the police force.
Speaking of the police, discussion is expected to be held at the committee level to try to get more police protection in Homer City over the weekends. That discussion is expected to come before council next month.
