On Monday night, Indiana Borough Council approved four contracts related to the refurbishment of the George E. Hood Municipal Building.
The general construction contract went to CNC Construction for $2,747,000, while the HVAC contact went to Hranec Sheet Metal for $1,294,000, the plumbing bid went to Shipley Plumbing for $154,000 and the electrical contract went to Mashan, Inc. for $1,294,000. Borough manager Nicole Sipos talks about the next steps.
She said that will take 2-3 months and then work will begin to move the offices to the temporary location of the former District Judge offices on Water Street.
In other business, the borough approved two events for Downtown Indiana. One is the STATIC on Philly street run by the IUP organization STATIC on April 20th, and the other is the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16th, provided PennDOT approves the closure of Philadelphia Street between 5th and 8th Streets.
Also, borough council president Luke DeBuyser said he would like to announce community events as part of an effort to promote positivity during the meetings. He said that its important to talk about all the positive things that happen along with the negative things.
He says that he wants to make this a permanent part of the monthly borough council meetings.
