The Heritage Conference boys semifinals tonight feature two newcomers against two teams that have been in the conference for a while. The Road to the KCAC, Presented by First Commonwealth Bank, has East number one Conemaugh Township facing West second place finisher West Shamokin and the top team out of the West, River Valley, taking on East number two Conemaugh Valley.
River Valley and Conemaugh Valley played a close game in the regular season with the Blue Jays prevailing, 62-59.
River Valley coach Rick Spallone says getting back to the Final Four in the Heritage Conference has been a priority for his team.
Spallone says making every possession count will be key for his Panthers.
Conemaugh Valley coach Trevon Williams says his team is expecting a battle.
Williams didn’t know what to expect from the Blue Jays’ first season in the Heritage Conference.
Conemaugh Township stars Jon Updyke and Colin Dinyar are always going to be difficult to defend but Ethan Matera is part of a rugged front line and he had 15 against West Shamokin when the two teams played on January 10th, a 66-48 Indians win.
Wolves coach Judd McCullough expects a physical game and says they have to do a lot of things well, better than they did last week against Penns Manor.
Both of tonight’s games will be on the radio and on Renda Digital TV, with pregames beginning at 6:30. The River Valley/Conemaugh Valley matchup is on Cat Country 106.3 FM and the Renda Digital TV stream is presented by Joyce Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning and by Lamantia Produce. West Shamokin/Conemaugh Township is on 92.5 FM U92 and the Renda Digital TV stream is presented by H2O Restoration Water Treatment Systems and by the John F. Graf Insurance Agency.
The Road to the KCAC girls semifinals are tomorrow night.
