BOYS BASKETBALL
Homer-Center beat Marion Center by 30 in their first game on January 4th, but it was a different story last night. Todd Marino recaps the Stingers’ win.
United battled once-beaten Conemaugh Township to the wire, but the Indians won, 62-60. Jon Updyke scored 28 points for CT and Colin Dinyar added 22. United’s Carter Payne scored 19 and Isaac Worthington had 16, while Ryan Felix had 12.
Conemaugh Valley survived Cambria Heights, 78-73. Landon Percinksy had 22 and Bryton Yackulich 18. For the Highlanders, Reese Garrison had 26 and Parker Farabaugh 21 and the two combined for 11 three-pointers, six of them by Garrison.
Trae Kargo scored 19 and Bode Layo 18 to lead Portage over Northern Cambria, 60-47. The Colts were led by Ty Dumm with 17 and Caleb Dolney 14.
Penns Manor upset Heritage Conference West top seed River Valley, 53-42.
Indiana lost to Hampton, 67-32. Hunter Martin scored 10 for Indiana.
One other extraordinary boys basketball note: Ligonier Valley’s Parker Hollick hit eleven three-pointers last night and scored 43 points in a win over Valley.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
United rolled past Cambria Heights, 45-33 as Mollee Fry scored 11 points and Ashley Donelson and Maddie McGinnis each had 10.
Eight players scored points as Indiana battered Gateway, 47-14. Bella Antonacci scored 13 to lead the way. Indiana had a 25-0 run in the first half to put it away.
WRESTLING
In the District 6 playoffs, Bishop McCort pinned United…literally. The Crushers had eight falls and one decision in a 69-6 win over the Lions.
RIFLE
Indiana lost to Armstrong, 796-59x to 786-40x. Gavin Dixon and Ava McGary were the top shooters for Indiana.
