The IUP basketball teams complete a grueling stretch of games tonight with their fourth doubleheader since last Wednesday. It’s a road trip to Clarion, coming on the heels of a Monday night split with Cal U.
The IUP women are 14-4, 10-3 in the PSAC and are coming off a big ten-point win over Cal on Monday night. Clarion is 0-19 on the season and is coming off an 8-point loss to Mercyhurst on Monday.
Coach Craig Carey says the one thing IUP cannot do tonight is give the Eagles the idea that they can win.
Coach Joe Lombardi’s IUP men are 13-6, and 10-3 in the PSAC after Monday’s 10-point loss to Cal. Clarion is 6-13 and 4-9 in the conference. They’re on a 5-game losing streak after being beaten by Mercyhurst by 10 on Monday.
Lombardi says the tough schedule the Crimson Hawks have played in the last week is demanding, but it has its rewards.
Tonight’s doubleheader tips off at 5:30 with the women’s game. Jack Benedict and Pat Dougherty have the call on U92.5 FM with the pregame beginning at 5:15.
