A former Commodore man was ordered to serve time in prison on federal charges of child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan announced in a news release that 57-year-old Jeffrey Allen Sink was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release and was also ordered to pay $2000 in restitution for a charge of possession of child pornography that goes back to 2018. In February of that year, Homeland Security Investigations in Pittsburgh discovered that Sink, already a convicted sex offender, was obtaining the illicit images and videos from a mobile app.
When confronted on March 1st, Sink told investigators that he utilized the internet to obtain the material and gave authorities permission to search his electronic devices where more illicit materials were found. Sink would enter a guilty plea to possession of material depicting the exploitation of minors in November of 2022.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative from the U.S. Department of Justice and led by the US Attorney’s Offices and Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.
