Steelers linebacker TJ Watt has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Year by the Committee of 101, an organization comprised of 101 national media members. Watt also won the award in 2020 and ’21.
Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been named to the Pro Football Writers of America all-rookie team.
The Steelers have signed five players to futures contracts. All five of them are defensive players, and all spent at least a part of this season on the team’s practice squad, and three of them are cornerbacks, Kalon Barnes, Thomas Graham Jr., and Josiah Scott. Also returning to the Steelers is outside linebacker David Perales and inside linebacker Tyler Murray.
Steelers strength and conditioning coach Marcel Pastoor has left the team, writing in a LinkedIn post that he is “ready for a change” after 23 years with the organization.
