A White Township man was sentenced in Westmoreland County for guilty pleas to two counts of unlawful contact with a minor.
47-year-old James Carter Sears was ordered to serve two to four years in state prison for the charges that stemmed from an investigation in 2021. Sears was in contact with an agent from the state attorney general’s office that was posing as a 15-year-old girl, and sent her sexually explicit photos and texts, then made arrangements to meet the girl for sexual relations. When he went to the scheduled meet on December 1st, he was confronted by members of the state attorney general’s office and taken into custody.
He was given credit for one day served in prison. After his released, he must register as a sex offender under Meghan’s Law.
