While the Indiana School Board initially approved to hold a hearing on the future of the Horace Mann Elementary School building, the date of that meeting has not yet been determined.
Initially, the board approved holding the required hearing on February 15th at 6:00 PM at the Senior High School. But after it was approved, some board members found out they were unable to attend the hearing due to other commitments. Another motion was made to remove the date, and schedule the meeting for another date after consulting with the district solicitor. Board President Walter Schroth said that it was important for as many board members to be available for the hearing.
The board also recommended that a consulting company come in to help out, and Superintendent Robert Heinrich said that they will put a request for a proposal from Strategic Solutions. Heinrich said that the company has worked with the district before.
The proposal will come back before the board at the next meeting, while the district will try to reschedule the meeting as soon as possible.
