The Penguins defense sagged in the third period and they lost to Vegas on Saturday night, 3-2.
Leading 2-0 on second period goals by Ryan Graves and Jake Guentzel, the Penguins gave up three goals to the Golden Knights, all on plays in which the defense was in position but, in the words of coach Mike Sullivan, they “didn’t defend hard enough.”
Rookie forward Brendan Brisson’s goal at 9:40 of the third period completed the Vegas comeback.
The Pens play Monday night in Phoenix.
