The Penguins’ Radim Zohorna cleared waivers yesterday and was sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and in a corresponding move, defenseman Ryan Shea was recalled.
Zohorna has 4 goals and 3 assists in 31 games in Pittsburgh this season. Shea has played in 22 games without a point. He has 13 shots on goal, 6 penalty minutes, and a plus/minus of minus-2.
Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel was back with the team for practice yesterday after having to leave following a hard head-first hit into the wall in the Pens’ win over Seattle on Monday. Fellow defenseman John Ludvig skated before the practice. He’s on long-term injured reserve with an undisclosed ailment and has not played since January 3rd.
The only new absence from practice was the coach. Mike Sullivan was in Boston for the birth of his first grandchild. His daughter gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Todd Reirden ran the practice in Sullivan’s absence.
The Pens play in Vegas on Saturday night.
